The morning of June 1, 2024 looked threatening but the rain held off until the Castlegar Sunfest Parade was finished.  It seemed like half the town was in the parade and the other half lined the streets to watch and collect handfuls of candy. A great time was had by all, including the Kootenay Robusters Dragon Boat team who managed to win the second place trophy.  We were there to raise awareness of the active and fulfilling lives that breast cancer survivors and women of all ages can lead. Those in the Robuster parade “dragon boat” ranged in age from 14 months to 79 years with a tiny dragon leading the way.  Understandably, she was a huge hit with spectators.

The dragon boat team has just begun the paddling season and invites any woman to come to the lake with us to give paddling a try.  You don’t have to be a breast cancer survivor to join.
