July 11, 2026 was a perfect day for the Christina Lake Homecoming celebration – a community event for residents, visitors and anyone who loves fun in the sun. As well as the usual opportunities to eat well, listen to music, enjoy a picnic, and ride on the Christina Lake fire boat, there was a special opportunity provided by the Kootenay Robusters Dragon Boat Team. Anyone who wanted to try out paddling a dragon boat was invited to join experienced team members for a spin around the public beach. Responding to the beat of the drum, it didn’t take the guests long to learn how to keep in time with the other paddlers. While younger children tired quickly, most of the new recruits were able to keep up and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. The Robusters have been participating in the Homecoming for more than ten years, and look forward to sharing their sport with others at this special event.
